The fabric
Cordura is a collection of synthetic fiber-based fabric technologies used in a wide array of products including luggage, backpacks, trousers, military wear and performance apparel. It offers excellent tear strength and resistance to abrasion as well as water repellency. All the fabrics are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®️ - Tested for harmful substances.
330 Denier Cordura® booties (60% polyamide, 40% cotton) are designed to keep the snow from building up between the foot pads, enhances your dog's mobility on slippery surfaces and prevent wounds caused by ice. It also shields the paws from salt and harmful chemicals on the roads used for de-icing which can be detrimental as they seep into the dog's system through their paw pads. The booties are very lightweight, colourfast, breathable and quick-drying. They are not waterproof and perform best on snow.
500 Denier Cordura® booties are 100% polyamide with 100% polyurethaan membrane and are slightly heavier than the 330 Denier Cordura®. These work well to keep dirt, mud, salt, sand and other debris off of your dog’s feet. The fabric had a high-quality water-repellent impregnation. The climate membrane makes the fabric waterproof, windproof and breathable.
1000 Denier Cordura® booties (100 % polyamide, coated nylon) are heavier than the 500 Denier Cordura®, similar to backpack material. These booties with an extra rubber coating will hold up better on sidewalks, streets or rough terrain. They had a water-repellent impregnation and are waterproof, windproof and wear-resistant.
Keep in mind that these booties will wear out on abrasive surfaces!
Sizing
To measure, have the dog stand on a tape measure and measure a foot at the widest part, as you would measure the width of your own foot. The front paws may need a bigger size than the hind legs. The booties are built with a slight taper to the toe. This reduces the floppiness of excess fabric at the toe and a better fit on the paw is achieved.
Bootie size | Width of paw |
---|---|
XXXS | 38mm |
XXS | 43mm |
XS | 57mm |
S | 63mm |
M | 70mm |
L | 76mm |
XL | 89mm |
Remember, these measurements are only a guide. Measure the paw and select the size that most closely matches your measurement. The booties are wider at the top, which allows them to be put on easily and the booties are built with a slight taper to the toe. This reduces the floppiness of excess fabric at the toe and a better fit on the paw is achieved. Choosing the correct size is the customers responsibility.
Please note: A bootie must be secured tightly otherwise the dog will lose it while walking or running. In addition, the dog also experiences discomfort if it is tied too loosely. A good way to put on the bootie is to make a kind of fold at the top and ensure that the bottom is smooth. Then tighten the Velcro.
Tips
- Some dogs encounter discomfort with their thumbnail while wearing the booties for a longer period of time or while exercising. Putting the Self-adhesive bandage a little bit around the nail, prevents irritation and keeps the bootie better in place while running a lot.
- Environmental factors can damage your pet's robust, yet sensitive paws. Our paw balm helps to maintain the natural protection of the calluses on the pads and keep them supple. This keeps it resilient and can reduce susceptibility to injury.
